From Hall of Famers to Future Stars

TOM OSBORNE MWB 1955 - 1957 QUARTERBACK HASTINGS COLLEGE The legendary Nebraska head coach's first bowl appearance was in the 1955 Mineral Water Bowl as a freshman quarterback for the Hastings Broncos.

GEORGE BORK MWB 1962 - 1963 QUARTERBACK NORTHERN ILLINOIS He led the Huskies to a 10-0 record and NAIA National Championship in 1963 including a Mineral Water Bowl win. He's a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

DON COCKROFT MWB 1966 KICKER / PUNTER ADAMS STATE COLLEGE Old Number "0" was the greatest kicker in Adams State history. He signed his Cleveland Browns NFL contract on Roosevelt Field following the 1966 Mineral Water Bowl.

MICHAEL BISHOP MWB 1996 QUARTERBACK • BLINN KANSAS STATE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS Bishop and his Blinn College team won the NJCAA National Championship in the '96 Mineral Water Bowl. In his career at Kansas State he was the Fiesta Bowl MVP and led the Wildcats to the Big 12 Championship game.

COLSTON WEATHERINGTON MWB 1998 D. END • NW MISSISSIPPI CENTRAL MISSOURI STATE DALLAS COWBOYS It's unusual for a Div. II player to enter the NFL draft after his junior year but Weatherington did this year and was picked by the Dallas Cowboys. He was the Defensive MVP of the '98 Bowl even though his team lost 41-3.

KENDRELL BELL MWB 1998 LINEBACKER • MIDDLE GEORGIA UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA PITTSBURGH STEELERS He led Middle Georgia's record setting defense in '98 and the pro scout already had their eyes on him. His hard-hitting, reckless style of play made him a second round draft choice of the Steelers this year.
